A file containing documents concerning Italian and Allied claims to Albanian gold seized by the Nazis during the Second World War and subsequently taken into custody by the Allies after the occupation of Germany. The file includes a note reporting that the United States will not be represented in the International Court of Justice (I.C.J.) proceedings of the Albanian gold case; a letter from the United Kingdom Delegation to the U.N. in New York requesting guidance on how to discuss the case with the United States State Department; a discussion of an Italian proposal to settle the claims outside of the I.C.J.; and a memorandum explaining the Italian government's proposal. The file also includes texts of communiqués from the I.C.J. concerning developments in the case; and French-language minutes from the I.C.J. hearing on the case.
