The file includes a discussion of an Italian proposal to settle the claims outside of the International Court of Justice (I.C.J.); an exchange between the British government and the I.C.J. on the submission of an application regarding the case; a discussion of the possibility of extending the deadline for the submission of a memorandum to the I.C.J.; and a text of the American government's submission to the I.C.J. concerning the case. Other documents include a report outlining the background of the case and the possible outcomes of the I.C.J. procedure; and records of a Parliamentary Question concerning compensation for the death of British sailors in Albania.
