A file of correspondence, reports, and press material concerning political developments in Yugoslavia. The documents include a report produced by Michael Creswell, the outgoing British ambassador to Yugoslavia, reflecting on his four years' service. This report discusses Creswell's view that Yugoslavia's "honeymoon with the West is over"; Yugoslavia's "striking economic advances over the last four years; and the general warming of relations between Yugoslavia and the Soviet bloc, driven by the impact of the Sino-Soviet split on Soviet foreign policy. The documents also include a paper produced by Duncan Wilson, the new British ambassador to Yugoslavia, giving his initial impressions of the socio-political situation in Yugoslavia; and a second paper by Wilson analysing the Yugoslav reaction to the resignation of Nikita Khrushchev, the Soviet leader. Other documents comment on the Eighth Congress of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, at which Josip Broz Tito, the Yugoslav leader, emphasised the dangers of "colonialism".
